Final Day! Week 5

Final week of blogging and I'm so ecstatic, I shared my final artifact and presented it in the showcase we had at school. I think my goal for this project was to get people interested in my topic of standard of beauty around the world and I think I did just that. I liked being  in control of what I wanted to research and present because it made the project more fun for me. I also think being in control helped me work harder in finding valid information on my topic for when I delivered. I have learned a lot from this project. I learned the right way to copy images on an artifact without stealing them. I  also learned how to create my own website which I had never done before. The showcase actually went great, my friends came and supported me and they thought my website was really nice and informative. They told me they learned a lot from my website. I was actually surprised I got that feedback from them because I thought I could have put more information and better pictures in my website. Overall I received good comments about my my artifact but I think I would add a little more information to my website as well as better pictures. I think this project was really enjoyable and I would definitely do it again. yinandyang<3

It's Week 4!

Wow! Its finally week 4 almost done with my artifact, it was tough but I stuck it out and did it. I think the hardest thing I came across was while trying to add images to my website on weebly. The reason why this has been hard is because I don't want to take peoples pictures without their permission, so I'm very careful where I find my images and I make sure to credit where they came from. In class recently we had a peer critique on our different artifacts and we were put in groups. My group members gave e great feedback and liked what I had presented so far on my website they just told me I should add a few more visuals for the final showcase we will have when we present our artifact. This week was pretty hectic but I made it through and I'm excited for the outcome of my website. yinandyang<3

Week 3 is Here!

Week 3 is finally here! I have learned so many great things about my topic on standards of beauty around the world. I have learned about the Kayan women of Thailand and the reason behind why they stretch their necks. I have also learned about the Mursi and the Surma women of Ethiopia whom stretch their lips for empowerment. Another interesting group I have learned about is the Maoni people of New Zealand who have face tattoos that signifies social status and beauty.I found these three particular  groups very interesting the way they view and express beauty through their cultures by modifying the body. I think people within the fashion industry would appreciate this research considering that beauty plays a huge part in the field. Also I think anyone who is highly interested in the subject matter like I am would enjoy this topic. I think that the best way to bring out my vision in my topic would definitely be through a website because I think its an attention grabber, visually appealing and more professional.  It would show areas in which I focused on their standards of beauty and people would be able to read and view more about each culture. That pretty much wraps up week 3 blog post see you in week 4. yinandyang<3

And so it BEGINSSSS!

Week 2 of my 20% project I had to do some research on my topic. Yay research! I know in order to get people who love fashion as much as me on my bandwagon I definitely need to know about my topic. So far from my research I started off by researching standards of beauty around the world. I found a great website that displayed a few standards of beauty in certain parts of the world. I discovered that in Northwest Thailand in a tribe called The Kayan women wear neck rings to elongate their necks. A tribe in Ethiopia called Mursi and Surma, the women wear lip plates the sizes of the lip plate indicates the number of cattle paid as brides price. Also the indigenous people of New Zealand called the Maori wear permanent face and body tattoos called Ta moko they are worn to signify social status and beauty to the opposite sex.
These were a few of the standards of beauty I found highly interesting. To make sure this information was credible I also did further research on the items to see if the were real standards. I'm also making sure that I'm always citing my sources when I'm researching different websites. That sums up this weeks post see you all on Week 3. yinandyang <3

I'M BACK!

Its been such a long time since I've posted anything. I feel like I've somewhat let myself down and my readers, also time has played a huge factor in why I haven't posted. But that's besides the point, I'm back! and it's all thanks to one class project called the 20% Project. Since I'm back in school full-time and busier than ever of course I'm going to have projects to do and in my international studies class I have to create a blog (which I already have) that expresses what I love(fashion) but how it can relate to the course I'm taking. I think what I ultimately want to achieve from this project is finding out more about the different   Something I'm really interested in learning within this project is how foreign countries fashion culture differ from those of the United States of America.  I know that my main audience will be anyone who loves fashion and is interested in learning about it on a global scale. I also think the best way to reach my fashion lovers would be either through a website or maybe a video so you can get a visual in motion that shows all the different research and facts about the fashion cultures internationally. I'm super excited to see what my finishing product will be like but until then I will keep you all posted on my progress. yinandyang <3

I just had to post one of my outfits from my trip in Callaway Gardens. Its crazy because I usually wear a lot of black but today I felt like bringing a little color out and what better way to do it than awesome galaxy leggings and a dope wolf t-shirt. Although I had a lot of color on I just  had to bring a little black with comfy creepers and 90s backpack purse from Last Chance. <3yinandyang
